Progress on the model is going well. It seems that there are a lot of different designs out there for the x-wing that differs in small ways, so I am only using images from the original star wars trilogy with only a few exceptions where there aren't any existing pics from the movies at the right angle.

In-between model.
I thought I should do an in-between model since I don't really know what is happening next when it comes to work, I might actually be able to do another 3 month internship stint at Funcom to finish it, this will allow me to be there when they release the new game and hopefully be in a better position to get hired.
So the model I'm doing is a vehicle... The T-65 X-Wing Starfighter.
I'm having problems with my computer mouse, it cuts out often and makes it unbearable almost to do any work. But I persevere.

Zeet in Unity
Since last time I have started to get the Zeet model into the unity game project that will become Zeet!: For Gastronomic Freedom. I have been using some youtube tutorials to manage the coding so far, I will probably want to involve a good programmer after doing some prototyping, I always knew I couldn't do this alone, I'm an artist and not a programmer (haven't got the head for it).

Idle poses!
I have made 4 Idle poses for Zeet.
An idle pose is the animation that plays when the character is not being moved.
I might use several but I want to know which one you like, check out the different Idle poses below and then vote at the bottom of this page. Thanks!

Zeet! : For Gastronomic Freedom!
As you can see from the title, I have chosen a title for the game. Perhaps a bit early for it but when it pops into your head you just can't do anything about it except say "yes Christer, yes I believe that will do nicely indeed)
Zeet walk cycle.
Making Zeet so early in production wasn't really necessary yet, I should have just made box model placeholders and then concentrated on prototyping the game mechanics. But Zeet is already done so might as well use him with the rest of the soon to be made box-model placeholders when I start prototyping.
Anyway made the walk cycle for Zeet, more for testing the rig than anything else since the player will most likely be running everywhere since it's most likely for phones and tablets and you don't really need/want to alternate between running and walking.
This is up close to the model of course, but the game is going to be side-scrolling and you won't be so close up to the character.
Let me know what you think... ok?...OK?

Projection Complete.
So Blender has so far been a pleasant surprise. I have completed the Zeet model by modifying the base mesh to fit the sculpt and then projection mapping the details onto the new game friendly model. Having done this I have now cut the polycount down from 847 872 polyfaces to 857 polyfaces.
You can check out the previous images of the sculpt and comparing it to this final model.
nice...right?

Nearing Sculpt Completion.
Since this is for a side-scrolling platform game I won't be too into detail for the characters, I might have done some unnecessary detailing already but once you get going it's hard to stop, that's my weak spot; I always continously develop new physical characteristics for my characters and never stop.

Zeet Update.
The Zeet model is progressing well, so far I'm pleased with how it is shaping up and it won't be long until I am ready to do some sculpting work on the model for detail and overall final shaping.
EDIT:
So I have taken the above model into Sculptris and used that application for the first time, it's no ZBrush but I think it will do nicely. Managed to do some sculpting on the character before leaving it for today.

Zeet Model
Worked on Zeet some more today. Got his body pretty much blocked out. After I get his head on I'm planning on getting the model into Sculptris so I can do some sculpting and make some textures on him. Doing this with the free license programs I know of, so using Blender to replace Maya/Max, and Sculptris to replace ZBrush, and finally using the free version of Unity for the game itself.
Anyway, the progress on Zeet.
Anyway, the progress on Zeet.
Concept and Progress.
I went through quite a few concept iterations for Zeet, I wanted the stereotypical alien design that we have all been over-saturated with since the first looney described little green men to his over worked and disinterested psychologist. Zeet is going to be fat, so being the big fan of American Dad that I am, I did NOT want him to look like Roger, while he his designed in a cartoony fat way, my fatty alien would have more real fat look to his body, with the cankles and all that while still having limbs that could function, so no grandma arms on him.
First progress pics from Blender.
Untitled Game.
I have started an, as of yet, unnamed project which I will do everything in my power to actually complete and publish for the phone and tablet market.
The game will be about an Alien named Zeet who was one of the original crew-members in the UFO that crashed in the Roswell desert in 1947. Now 3 years later the military prepares for an inspection of the Area 51 base, and in doing so has realized they have over-indulged Zeet a little too much in their enthusiasm of having a survivor and a real live alien in their midst. Zeet... has become pretty fat and unhealthy over the last 3 years, so the military plans to put him on a rigorous training and diet regime to prepare for the inspection and have an impressive alien specimen to show. Now Zeet was pretty happy until all this started, getting everything he wanted in excess, not like how it was back on his home planet, what he hasn't said is that he was just a cook on the ship and couldn't give them any valuable information or technology even if his life depended on it, so Zeet decides to escape to get back home now that he realizes he didn't have it so bad back there.
So he's on the run with generic soldiers and General Smashingrab on his heels.
I might just call this project simply... Zeet!

Unfortunate circumstances.
Hello Anyone.
Since August 2013 I've been working as a 3D Artist intern at Funcom in Oslo, I have had the pleasure of working on most of their projects past and present, from Anarchy Online to Age of Conan: Unchained and more extensively The Secret World.
Working at Funcom has been both a challenging and rewarding experience, I have learned a great deal about the internal process of working at a games company, a leading company within the MMO genre at that. I consider myself very fortunate to have had the chance to work there and be a part of creating content for big games and I believe having that experience will help me a great deal with breaking into the industry further and getting a permanent job.
Starting monday I will use the most of my remaining two weeks at Funcom and end it on a high note.
Now maybe I can continue my Saloon project?
